S.U.S.W.A.

So I was finally contacted via email yesternight (new word) by S.U.S.W.A. (Southern Utah Song Writers Association). I'M IN! I got sort of nervous about maybe not being good enough, or having an inadequate recording quality on the songs I sent in to the compilation CD...And it didn't help that they took a while trying to unsuccessfully contact me over the phone. Thankfully I thought to give them an email address as a second form of communication. I was starting to think I'd never have a chance. But I guess it's going to work out after all!
We are going to be playing a celebration festival on May 29th in St. George, Utah. I will keep you updated on the details! Until next time, Katelyn OUT!

Also, for your entertainment, I have posted a video taken at our last concert. I hope you enjoy!

Intimidation, Hope, and Henna.

This world we live in is so based upon contests...hitting the charts...making it BIG! It's a concept that scares the living hell out of me. On one hand, I'd love nothing more than to make a career out of doing what I love most...music and art. Though on the other hand, in such an industry, it isn't something that is right or wrong...it's purely subjective, it's up to the listener. It's sort of a gamble really. I guess we will see kids. If I become somewhat known then I guess that's what was meant to be. If not...then well. I don't know. Maybe I'll just play gigs in pubs, and paint murals for lonely old ladies for the rest of my life.

Good news though! It seems (through the examination of a recent bank statement) that one hundred and thirty five dollars was taken out of my account. That means my friends...that one of my songs made it on to the compilation! Hurray! I still haven't heard from them in any way shape or form...they just sort of helped themselves to the cash. *sigh* They took the money out last month! You'd think they'd of contacted me by now.

Oh well, I guess I can't rush these kind of things. Their is most likely a logical reason for their lack of communication. I mean, I wasn't the ONLY one trying out for the damn thing. I am happy to see that someone who deals with recording music as a profession has recognized some quality in what I sent in. It's all thanks to my uncle Ken and his awesome technological know how. He recorded the tracks I sent in to Spiral Studios. So shout out to him! You rule man.

Oooh. Also I have just tried using henna tattooing for the first time tonight. That is actually my main reasoning for sitting here at the computer into the wee hours of the morning typing a blog entry...I'm waiting for the henna to soak all the way in before I go to bed. I'll probably post some pictures to show how they turned out here in the near future. It was a lot easier to apply then I had imagined it being in the past. It came in a kit called "Earth Henna," with the henna powder, solution, and eucalyptus oil all in a cute little woven pouch. Along with two cue tips and a couple of sticks to move around the henna (I ended up not using either of these extra items.) I think for the most part I am happy with what I designed. I painted it on my feet mostly, just in case it turned out horrible, so no one would be able to see it. Either way, I had fun...So I think I will most likely do this again sometime.
Thats about all for now.
Peace,
Kate
